As a part of Noosa Shire Council’s commitment to developing the region, a Master Plan for the Noosa Botanic Gardens was initiated to increase and enhance the site’s use and visitation. Although a well-loved local gem, much of the infrastructure was feeling tired. Without a shared vision for the future, investment and work was being delivered ad-hoc. In 2023, Council partnered with Fourfold Studio and O2LA to facilitate a collaborative engagement program, seeking to develop a vision for the gardens, as well as a series of short, medium and longterm actions.

Engagement sought to ensure that the vision for the gardens remained closely aligned with local and stakeholder aspirations, whilst enhancing its wealth of existing assets. This was achieved through a multi-phase engagement program, including stakeholder 1:1s, online engagement and a survey, site walk-around with Tourism Noosa and two onsite pop-ups for the broader community. This process fostered a clear understanding of existing community love for the gardens, and helped gather local ideas for future enhancements.

The final vision and accompanying master plan will ensure everyone is working toward a shared, collective vision. It will assist in solidifying the Noosa Botanic Gardens as a premier destination within the region.
